Join the National Cartoonists Society Chicago Chapter for our second official field trip of the year—an exclusive visit to the renowned Prints and Drawings Study Room at the Art Institute of Chicago. This private, behind-the-scenes experience offers members a rare opportunity to view original works on paper from the museum’s vast collection, including historical prints, cartoons, and drawings that have inspired generations of artists.

We’ll explore selections curated specifically with cartoonists in mind, featuring pieces that reflect the storytelling, composition, and linework traditions we celebrate in our own craft. Whether you’re a fan of classical engraving, 20th-century editorial cartooning, or contemporary illustration, there’s something for everyone to enjoy and learn from.

This is a unique, intimate setting with limited capacity, so please RSVP early. Sketchbooks welcome, but space is limited, and respectful handling of materials is required.

Don’t miss this inspiring morning with your fellow cartoonists at one of Chicago’s cultural treasures!
