Welcome to the NCS Chicago Chapter

We are proud members of the National Cartoonists Society, a not-for-profit membership organization founded in 1946, comprised of professional cartoonists, illustrators, animators, writers, publishers, and everything in between. The Chicago Chapter is one of 22 regional chapters of the NCS, representing the various locations of its membership. In addition to providing opportunities for more participation in the NCS through conventions, charities, and get-togethers, chapters serve a crucial role in jurying for the annual Reuben Awards.
Like the NCS, our chapter is full of colorful characters who also happen to be professional cartoonists. Syndicated comic strips, gag cartoons, editorial cartoons, caricatures, graphic novels, comic books, fold-ins, and more–we do what we love and we love what we do. We have a great sense of camaraderie and kinship, and love talking shop with each other.
While it’s true that you do have to be a member of the NCS in order to be a chapter member, we do host events that are open to the public. So, if you are a cartoonist who is curious about joining the NCS, please feel free to reach out and connect with us by email or at one of our upcoming events listed on our calendar.
Cheers,
Johnny Sampson
